Workshop: "IMT Workshop on Behavioral and Experimental Economics"
Join us for an exciting workshop featuring cutting-edge research in behavioral and experimental economics. The event will culminate with a special seminar by Professor Jean-Robert Tyran (University of Vienna) on "Sorting Fact from Fiction when Reasoning is Motivated."

SPUDM 2025 - Call for Papers Now Open!
SPUDM (Subjective Probability, Utility, and Decision Making) is a biennial conference organized by the European Association for Decision Making. The conference brings together researchers in judgment and decision-making, providing a platform to share cutting-edge research through paper presentations, posters, and symposia.
The 2025 edition will be hosted and organized by Open Lab and the IMT School for Advanced Studies in Lucca.
We look forward to welcoming you to Lucca!

Seminar: "Can a single model account for both risky choices and inter-temporal choices? Testing the assumptions underlying models of risky intertemporal choice: A conceptual replication"
Speakers: Professor Andreas Ortmann, University of New South Wales, Sydney.
Within the Open Lab/AXES seminar series, Professor Andreas Ortmann from UNSW will present a conceptual replication study challenging previous findings on risky intertemporal choice models. The seminar will examine how different incentivization methods and experimental designs impact decision-making in economic choices. Prof. Ortmann's research addresses key methodological concerns in behavioral economics, particularly regarding the relationship between risky and intertemporal choices. The presentation will highlight the importance of proper incentivization in experimental economics and discuss how factors such as presentation order can affect research outcomes. Overall, the seminar aims to contribute to the ongoing dialogue about experimental methodology and the robustness of behavioral economics findings.

Bright Night
Researchers' Night is an annual event held on the last Friday of September in over 250 European cities. Initiated by the European Commission in 2005, it aims to connect scientific researchers with the public. Researchers showcase their work through fun, interactive activities like experiments, shows, and lab tours.
In Tuscany, BRIGHT-NIGHT is jointly organized by local universities and research institutions and is funded by the Tuscany Region.
The IMT School hosts free events for all ages in Lucca on September 27th.

Seminar: "New methods and theories for promoting pro-environmental behaviours: A social marketing approach in the context of water conservation."
Speakers: Professors Franco Sancho Esper and Carla Rodriguez Sanchez, University of Alicante.
Within the Open Lab/AXES seminar series, professors Sancho Esper and Rodriguez Sanchez will present three studies from the "SOMATECH" project, focusing on Community-Based Social Marketing (CBSM) for environmental sustainability. It will explain CBSM's five-step process for behavior change and demonstrate how these steps apply to water conservation programs. The presentation will also discuss new theories and communication tools that enhance program effectiveness. Overall, the seminar aims to show how CBSM can be used to design impactful environmental conservation initiatives.

Seminar: "Who's Afraid of Policy Experiments?"
Speaker: Professor Robert Dur.
Professor Robert Dur (Erasmus University Rotterdam), will deliver a seminar within the Open Lab/AXES seminar series.
While randomized experiments represent a significant method for enhancing our understanding of policy effects and thereby contributing to improved public policy, their use in policy contexts remains relatively uncommon. In this presentation, Professor Dur will explore the underlying causes of this phenomenon.

Professor Andrea Fracasso from the University of Trento will deliver a seminar on the effects of investment in robots and other 4IR digital technologies (specifically big data, Internet of Things, virtual reality, and cybersecurity) on firm employment, firms' training and firms' hiring strategies.
