Auditory Wellness and Risks of Noise-Exposed Listening
Davide Bottari
This project aims to explore the demographic, environmental, cognitive, psychophysical, and neural factors involved in listening in noisy environments by measuring both subjective and objective indices (psychophysical and neurophysiological parameters). Additionally, it will assess the effectiveness of acoustic training in reducing anxiety, cognitive load, and stress.
Entrepreneurship and Compassion Training as a Catalyst for Pro-Social Behavior in Penitentiary Populations: A Pathway to Rehabilitation and Social Reintegration in Gorgona and Livorno Penitentiaries
Angelica Mori, Giacomo Marzi, Sibilla Di Guida, and Silvio Vismara
This study investigates the potential of entrepreneurship training as a transformative mechanism for promoting pro-social behavior among penitentiary populations, thereby facilitating rehabilitation and reducing recidivism. Focusing on Gorgona Prison—an exceptional setting where inmates engage in work on the island—and a comparative study in Livorno’s more traditional penitentiary, this research examines how entrepreneurial training, paired with structured compassion training to enhance emotional stability, influences social attitudes and behaviors among inmates.
Drawing on Social Learning Theory, Self-Determination Theory, and Human Capital Theory, the study assesses how entrepreneurial skills, combined with targeted compassion training, foster behavioral shifts supportive of reintegration. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the study gathers quantitative and qualitative data through surveys, interviews, and observational research across both sites.
The findings are expected to contribute to discussions in entrepreneurship and criminology, offering valuable insights for policymakers and prison administrators seeking rehabilitation strategies that integrate both practical skill development and emotional resilience.
